Decorating an Apartment
Generally, apartments are smaller than houses. Having a smaller space to live in is one of the difficulties in having a part of a building as compared to being the sole owner of the property. Yet, smaller space doesn’t have to make one feel cramped. With just a few simple decorating ideas, one can create an environment which feels full of space, open and free.
One of the things you should avoid in decorating an apartment is clutter. The more things you put in a room, the smaller it would seem. It is better to keep things simple, clean and neat. After all, a small room doesn’t need many decorations and elements that do not have practical uses to the owner. Many interior decorators often resolve the challenge of small rooms by using elements and things that serve dual purposes like a sofa that has a secret compartment under the cushions or upholstery that can be used as storage area.
When decorating apartments, it is a good idea to make use of vertical spaces as well. More often than not, walls are used for decorative functions only while the floor space accommodates furniture, appliances and many other things. You can opt for wall mounted things such as an LCD television, a wall mounted book shelf and even media rack to save valuable floor space.
